On behalf of the United Muslim Foundation (UMF) and Peace & Justice Across Borders We would like to invite you and your family, and friends to attend an Interfaith Iftar on Saturday September 12th, 2009 at 6pm at the Al-Ahad Islamic Center, 1500 Ridgeview Avenue, Allentown, PA 18104. You are invited to witness
and feel an amazing experience of Iftar. You will walk out of the event
feeling committed to building Bridges of peace, justice, pluralism and
tolerance.
A full spectrum of representation from Lehigh Valley
will be witnessed; our civil leaders like mayors, council persons,
fire, police chiefs on the one end and the faith leadership
representing every possible faith would be represented.
Ramadhan is the ninth holy month of the Islamic calendar. In Ramadhan, Muslims abstain from food, drink and other sensual pleasures from the break of dawn to sunset. They also invite friends and family to their homes and Mosques to share meals together at this special time of the year.
This Iftar (Dinner) offers opportunities for people of all faiths to experience the Islamic month of fasting. Such an events allows American Muslims to share and celebrate the importance of the month of Ramadhan with individuals of all faiths. Over 1 billion Muslims worldwide including 8 millions in the U.S.A fast during the daytime of this holy month. This Iftar is to celebrate our diversity and recognize the richness in our community. This event is a great opportunity for the Greater Lehigh Valley residents to come and share a delicious fast breaking Iftar with their Muslim neighbors.
